Masters of Business Administration - Stage 1
Extended Diploma of Strategic Management and Leadership

Duration: 1 year

Who is this course for?
This course is designed for those who have completed an undergraduate degree in another discipline and aspire to a managerial and leadership role in the corporate sector.

The western styled MBA, with its emphasis on group work, research and report writing, better prepares graduates for a career in the corporate sphere, than a course whose main emphasis is on examinations. By the time you graduate from us, you will have spent many hours in class and in group projects, reading about, thinking about, and talking about a wide variety of businesses and business models. In your future career, you will be expected to analyse situations, think critically, work as a positive and effective part of a team and to produce reports for both management and board level. As a result of completing our course, you will be better equipped than many others to make high-level business decisions. You will have spent time studying "softer," people-focused skills and concepts in coursework and projects, which will give you the tools to help you manage people and effectively and efficiently pursue the goals of your company or business.

Students from India and other Asian countries can find it difficult to jump straight into a western styled MBA. We understand and appreciate this, so our course is designed to make the transition as smooth as possible for you and to give you every chance of gaining the marks required to join a top quality MBA programme such as that offered by the University of Wolverhampton in the UK.

Unit 3: Strategic Change Management
This unit provides the learner with the understanding and skills to support active engagement in the process of strategic change management. The phenomenal pace of change in countries such as China and India is impacting on older, established economies in the western world. With such change comes uncertainty and insecurity. Organisations, even those in the public sector where ‘steady state’ was ever the watchword, can no longer sit back. All organisations are being increasingly challenged by change. Consequently, they need to understand the issues that drive the need for change in their own organisations. This means that organisations need to have a proactive approach to strategic change management.

Unit 4: Developing Corporate Culture
The development of an appropriate culture is vital to the success of an organisation. It could be said that all the best policies, procedures, and technologies are supported by a culture that reinforces consistently what the organization is about. An organisation’s positioning, and the positioning of its products and services, depend on the formulation and implementation of intelligent and well-informed strategic marketing plans.

Unit 9: Managing Corporate Responsibility in the Wider Business Environment
This unit provides the learner with an understanding of the effect of legislation and global integration on decisions, policies, processes and activities undertaken by organisations. The internationalisation of markets and business activities, increased use of information and communication technology and the impact and consequences of the activities of organisations on many areas of life have meant that organisations need to be more aware of the contexts in which they operate. They have to assume greater responsibility for what they do.

Unit 10: Strategic Human Resource Management
Strategic human resource management is considered with the management of human resources in ways that support an organization’s strategy and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals. It takes a long-term perspective on how human resources can be matched to organizational requirements and considers broader matters such as the quality and commitment of human resources to an organization.

A well-constructed strategic plan is essential for organizations to cope with industry and competitive conditions. This unit focuses on how organizations undertake strategic planning and its importance in a fast changing, turbulent marketplace. You will understand why it is important to develop a strategic vision and mission, establish objectives and decide on a strategy. Unit 14: Strategic Supply Chain Management and Logistics
This unit focuses on how the concept of supply chain management and logistics is based on the idea that every product that reaches an end user represents the combined effort of multiple organisations which make up the supply chain and that until recently, most organisations paid attention to only what was happening within their own business.

Unit 16: Research Methods for Strategic Managers
This unit is designed to introduce you to the techniques and methods required to carry out formal research.
